Key Facts

A recent report from Audit Scotland offered a summation of the situation Glasgow’s local authority finds itself it: “The scale and complexity of Glasgow’s socio-economic challenges are unique in Scotland and, like all local authorities, it’s facing considerable financial pressures”.

As of July 2018 there were 145 GP surgeries in the area serving a population of approximately 622,000. The HSCP is currently consulting on its draft Strategic Plan, which proposes five priorities, including early intervention, prevention and harm reduction; providing greater self-determination and choice; and shifting the balance of care. There are three localities – North East, North West and South and with regards to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, Glasgow City contains 3 in 10 of the 15% most deprived data zones in Scotland.
