Morag Barrow has been appointed chief officer at Midlothian.

She takes over from Allister Short, who has moved to become chief officer at neighbouring West Lothian.

Ms Barrow, who was previously responsible for primary care and older people’s services, has told healthandcare.scot that it is “an honour” to take on the role at a “an exciting and challenging time”.

“Health and social care in Midlothian is going through a step change and our focus will continue to be treating people closer to home and putting ill health prevention at the centre of all we do.

“I am looking forward to my new role leading a wonderful team of health and social care professionals.”

Allister Short joined NHS Lothian in 2008 and became chief officer in Midlothian in November 2017.
