A new medical director has been appointed to Scotland’s national waiting times centre.

Dr Mark MacGregor joined NHS Golden Jubilee earlier this month, after a spell working for Ayrshire & Arran health board as a consultant nephrologist and head of acute services.

He previously sat on the board of the Golden Jubilee, a specialist centre that carries out operations on patients from across Scotland.

Mark said: “NHS Golden Jubilee is continually striving for excellence and I am delighted to be appointed as medical director at an exciting time to help deliver our expansion plans, which will provide benefits for patients across the whole of NHS Scotland.

“As a non-executive director of NHS Golden Jubilee I was fortunate enough to be involved in many innovations and expansions over the past eight years and it is a privilege to continue my involvement in a different capacity.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside our skilled and committed clinical teams delivering high quality, person-centred care to serve the needs of patients from across Scotland, while advancing the field of medicine through world class research and innovation.”

Golden Jubilee chief executive Jann Gardner said Dr MacGregor had a “wealth of experience in clinical practice and medical leadership”.

She said: “We look forward to Mark’s professional leadership and management as we work with colleagues across NHS Scotland to deliver care through collaboration.”
