Holyrood’s Health and Social Care Committee has issued a call for people across Scotland to share their questions and concerns around health and social care services.
The committee are asking members of the public to share their core issues and questions they would like to raise with Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Health, Social Care and NHS Recovery, Michael Matheson.
Mr Matheson is set to join the Health, Sport and Social Care Committee on 12 September this year to answer questions from committee members.
The Committee is keen to learn about the priorities and questions members of the public and those who work in health and social care would like to raise with him.
Clare Haughey MSP, Convener of the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee, said:
“Our Committee is responsible for scrutinising the Scottish government’s delivery of health and social care, and this is a great opportunity for members of the public and those who work in the health and care sector to suggest questions for the Committee to put to the Cabinet Secretary.
“Your questions will help to inform our scrutiny of the Scottish government’s approach to developing and delivering health and social care policy in Scotland.
“The consultation is open to all so please get in touch.”
The Committee has launched a consultation for health and care workers and members of the public to share their questions and issues, which is open now until 25 August.
Only questions relevant to the Cabinet Secretary’s remit will be considered for possible selection – those relating to NHS recovery from the pandemic, and health and social care services.
In April, Mr Matheson shared some of his key priorities for health and social care with healthandcare.scot – including supporting staff and promoting cross-sectoral working.
Now, he will appear before the Committee to update on these and any progress in in his first six months in the role.
